Highway Superintendant

Kris Hergesell,Highway Superintendant
(From the 2009 Town of Bristol newsletter)

Winter started early and kept us very busy. We set some new records for the amount of snow and number of days snowed. By mid-February because of the heavy rain and warmer temperatures we were fixing soft spots on our dirt roads. South Hill Road received heavy damage due to the increased traffic going to the Nordic Ski Center. The highway dept. hauled over 200 loads of gravel to repair it and make it better for the up and coming year. Since then we have spent all our time cleaning ditches, repairing washouts, replacing culvert pipes, grading and graveling to improve our roads. We oiled and stoned 7.13 miles (Baptist Hill Road, Tilton Road, Footer Road, and Montanye Road). We also wedged (black topped) 4.25 miles (Kear Rd, Ketchum Rd, Whitetail Dr, Woodland Trail, Furman Rd, Fawn Ridge, Tilton east off CR 2, some of Egypt Rd and Pierpont Rd. The Highway Department was down to one roadside mowing tractor until September so it was slow going. Now that we have received our new tractor we will get the roadsides mowed back for a better line of sight. We have started work on Vincent Hill Rd, removing trees and brush, ditching and replacing culvert pipes. The Highway Dept. has been short handed all year but the men have done a great job! We made improvements throughout our town. I would like to take this opportunity to THANK all the people who supported me in the last election. It was an honor to be your Highway Superintendant. If you have any questions or concerns please call (585) 229-5243.
