TOWN CLERK NEWS

Sharon Miller, Town Clerk
clerkbr@frontier.com
(From the Town of Bristol 2009 Newsletter)

You may have heard about the newly adopted legislation, which will increase sporting license fees and raise the qualifying age for senior licenses from 65 to 70 years of age. The new prices and age change went into effect with the sale of the 2009/2010 licenses on August 17th. If you are between the ages of 65-69 now it would be a good time to take advantage of purchasing a Lifetime License at the cost of $50. After October 1, 2009 the cost of a lifetime Senior Sportsman will be $65 and you have to be 70+ years of age to purchase.

There are many benefits to investing in a Lifetime License. With the purchase of a lifetime fishing or Lifetime Sportsman License, you will receive a permanent Lifetime ID card and you will receive your annual Fishing and/or Hunting and Trapping Regulations in the mail.

Additionally with the purchase of a Lifetime Sportsman, your back tag and carcass tags will be mailed to you annually, including turkey permits, and the deer management Permit application fee is waived (annual license holders will now have to pay $10, as will Lifetime Sportsmen who purhase after 10/01/2009.)
Fishing                     $29.00
Sportsman               $47.00
Turkey                     $10.00
DMP Application     $10.00

Dogs Counted

The Ontario County Humane Society recently completed the mandatory dog enumeration for the town. They found 777 dogs being harbored in town. According to the NYS Agriculture and Markets Law, all dogs, four months of age and older must be licensed annually.

You need to license a newly acquired dog, you must have proof of a current rabies shot, and if dog is either neutered or spayed, a certificate showing proof is also required.

The cost of licensing your dog is $12.50 if it is neutered or spayed, or $20.50 if it is not. You can either stop in at the Town Hall or call the Town Clerk at 229-2400 and the necessary form can be mailed to you.
